New census numbers show the fastest growing states

The latest census numbers are out, on state population growth.

Or the lack thereof.

Eight states, like Illinois and Wyoming had a net loss in population, compared to last year.

The fastest-growing state, on a percentage basis, is Idaho, with a 2.2 percent gain during 2017.

Utah, Washington, Florida, and Arizona had the next four fastest increases.

In terms of sheer numbers, not percentage growth, Texas, Florida, and California lead the way.

In fact, Texas added nearly 400,000 people in 2017, about the entire population of Tulsa.

Oklahoma’s population growth could be described as almost flat, with a .2-percent net increase.

The overall trend sees people moving away from the North and East to the South and West.
