Mayor Bynum announces proposal for increased pay, bonus for Tulsa police officers

Bynum says the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police has accepted his administration’s contract offer.

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum announced a new pay increase proposal has been accepted for police officers Wednesday night.

Bynum made the announcement on Facebook, saying the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police accepted his administration’s contract offer.

The offer will give new officers a $3,000 signing bonus and all officers who have served at least one year a 4% retention bonus at the end of this calendar year.

Bynum says this is one of the city’s most significant increases in pay in the history of the Tulsa Police Department and will bring the city of Tulsa up to speed with nearby competing cities.

Next week, the Tulsa City Council will vote on the proposal.
