Work on the downtown inner dispersal loop wraps up, east leg opens for traffic

TULSA — ODOT confirmed Tuesday that work has about wrapped up on the inner dispersal loop around downtown Tulsa, and that the east leg will open for traffic today.

Some lane closures could still occur as they put the finishing touches on the IDL.

Work on the east leg began in September of ‘21.

The $26 million project included rebuilding or resurfacing all the pavement on that part of the IDL, as well as the barriers and lighting.

ODOT also spent time rehabilitating the Archer Street, 8th Street, and 11th Street bridges.

Meanwhile, two more major projects are set to get underway.

Monday, lanes will shift as work to resurface the bridge which loops from northbound Highway 169 to I-244 westbound.

ODOT spokesman T.J. Gerlach tells KRMG once the resurfacing is done, they will begin building a new bridge, which will replace the existing structure when complete.

Also Monday, work will begin on a huge project in Rogers County.

It will entail rerouting about two miles of the highway, eventually tying it into a new bridge and a new junction with the Creek Turnpike.
