Women’s History Month: The fight for the right to vote

TULSA — In August of 1920, the center of the political universe in the United States became Nashville, Tennessee - because that’s where the decision on whether woman would win the right to vote in all local and national elections in the nation would be made.

Thirty-five states had ratified the 19th Amendment, so one more was needed to reach the ¾ majority of states needed (there were 48 states at the time).

A book called "The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote" by Eileen Weiss, published in March of 2018, came out in paperback this month.

Weiss uses a narrative style to tell a story that is essentially a political thriller.

It’s history, but reads more like a novel with well-drawn characters and plenty of drama.

Anyone looking for an interesting, insightful read for National Women’s History Month need look no further.
