Toby Jenkins with Oklahomans for Equality told FOX23 that they purchased backup signs when they first received the Tulsa Pride street signs in 2018. The backup signs were purchased for moments like these.

Unfortunately, these signs were the backup ones.

Because the signs are privately owned, public funding cannot replace them. They’re searching for more signs now.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that these street signs have been damaged.

Jenkins also said that this isn’t the first time the organization has been faced with vandalism. Murals have been defaced in the past, and their buildings were shot at once before.

The shooting left behind 14 bullets, and the center now has bullet-resistant glass.
