Update: Man killed in officer-involved shooting

UPDATE: Tulsa police identify the man shot and killed by officers as Mark Allen Kelley, 45, of Tulsa.

Tulsa police are investigating an officer-involved shooting death.

Tulsa police told KRMG news the incident began inside a house at 304 North 25th West Avenue (Gilcrease Museum Road)  just after 4:24 a.m.

Cops say a man inside the home stabbed himself with a ten to twelve inch knife with a hooked point.

When police arrived, the man wouldn't drop the knife and began coming toward several officers.

The man ignored orders to stop, forcing three officers to open fire, striking the man several times.

EMSA was on the scene and transported the man to a hospital where he died a short time later.

Witnesses who live in the area told KRMG the man had been heard yelling obscenities and making threats several times in recent weeks.

Many of the things he said made no sense, they said.

Tuesday morning, he was yelling "help me! help me! somebody help me!" they told KRMG.

The officers told him they would help, but first he needed to put down the knife - and instead, he reportedly came at the officers.

Police told KRMG they did recover the knife, and found several others inside the house.

There were other people in the house at the time, including children, but no one else was hurt.

Officers said the man was related to people who lived in the home, but he didn't live there.
