Tulsa’s Gathering Place files lawsuit against Oklahoma coffee shop with the same name

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s Gathering Place is suing a central Oklahoma coffee shop, claiming that the small business is causing confusion for its customers.

The Gathering Place is a coffee shop in Shawnee, more than 100 miles away from Tulsa.

The lawsuit was filed on Friday, Sept. 24. In the court documents, the Gathering Place claims that the coffee shop knowingly used the name in bad faith. The Gathering Place also claims that the coffee shop began using the name after Tulsa’s park planned extensive marketing and communications with the name.

The Gathering Place is also seeking damages from the coffee shop.
