Tulsa lab offers way for parents to test children for E-cigarette usage

TULSA, Okla. — A lab in Tulsa is offering a way for parents to see if their kids have been using e-cigarettes, or any form of tobacco.

Any Lab Test Now is located at 38th and Peoria and can run 8,000 different types of tests.

Owner Tom Powers told KRMG parents are coming to them for this test more and more.

“We can find out, of course privately, if the child has been consuming nicotine in any way, shape or form.” Powers said.

The test can be done in one of four ways: oral, hair, urine or nail.

Powers said the urine tests start at $19.

The Surgeon General reported an increase in the number of children and young adults using e-cigarettes.

“E-cigarette use among both youth and young adults has increased considerably in recent years. In 2015, more than a quarter of students in grades 6 through 12 and more than a third of young adults had ever tried e-cigarettes.” According to the Surgeon General.

It’s also reported that e-cig usage can lead to problems in brain development, as well as addiction and respiratory issues.
