Tullahassee Man Accused of Gunning Down Wife

A 62-year-old Tullahassee man has reportedly confessed to killing his wife.  Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert says Marvin Gaines called the sheriff’s office late Sunday night.

He told them he and his 49-year-old wife were arguing and that he had shot her.  Investigators went to their home and discovered Mae Gaines lifeless body on the floor.

Marvin Gaines was arrested and booked into the Wagoner County Jail.  Mae Gaines was employed by the Muskogee Phoenix newspaper.

This was the second murder in Wagoner County in 2011.  Arthur Burney, 53, was found shot to death February 18 in a barn at his Coweta home.  Burney’s wife and 14-year-old daughter were arrested in the case, as was the daughter’s boyfriend.
