TULSA, Okla. — 3,000 volunteers have arrived in Green Country to help PGA staff pull off the 2022 PGA Championship next week.
FOX23 caught up with the volunteers Friday morning as they waited to be shuttled to Southern Hills. Lightning caused a weather delay, forcing the buses to rollout several hours later than originally scheduled.
Volunteers remained in good spirits, despite the delay. One volunteer even bought everyone Starbucks coffee to ease the wait. Another bus driver decided to play a Christmas Movie to keep passengers entertained.
Once on site, volunteers are spending the day picking up their uniforms and credentials. While it does cost money to volunteer, just over $200.00, the cost includes shirts, jackets, hats, and water bottles.
All volunteers are also given tickets for food and drink all week, and when they’re not working, they are allowed to watch the action.
