Suspects use ‘fender bender’ ruse to rob motorist, police say

Tulsa Police say a man who was driving home from his job at a taco truck around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday got tricked by two men, who bumped his car with their SUV as he was getting off the highway at 21st street and Highway 169.

“Basically concocted a ruse and used this minor fender bender as a way to get this guy stopped,” said Tulsa Police Lt. Justin Ritter.

When the victim got out of his car to check for any damage, police say one of the suspects pointed a gun at the man and stole his wallet.

About an hour later, Tulsa Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Quik Trip at 61st and Lewis.

During their investigation, police noticed a green Mercury Mountaineer SUV parked nearby that matched the description of the vehicle that was used in the ‘fender bender’ robbery.

They canvassed the area and located both suspects and arrested them.

Gabriel Montez Hale (pictured above left) and Kishjuane McTye (pictured above right) are being held in the Tulsa County Jail on two complaints each of first-degree robbery.
