Suspect accused of assaulting, raping 14-year-old

A Tulsa man is accused of picking up a 14-year-old girl on Friday and taking her to The Tudor House Inn near Admiral and Sheridan.

The victim told officers, she informed Maurice Owens of her age when he picked her up.  No word on how the two of them met each other.

Once inside the motel room, Maurice Owens is said to have struck her and "placed the barrel of a gun to her mouth."   He then raped the teen.

Police say the victim called her mother to let her know where she was at and what had happened.  The mother arrived and called 911.

Owens was taken into custody a short time later.

Police say Owens admitted he was intoxicated and had smoked several blunts.

The suspect was taken to the Tulsa County Jail.  He faces a count of first-degree rape.
