Stroud aerospace firm announces $5 million expansion

State leaders were on hand in Stroud today for the announcement of a major expansion at Mint Turbines, an aircraft maintenance company.

Mint also plans to hire about 30 new workers and invest $5 million into an expansion of its facility.

The company recently entered into a partnership with General Electric to become a restricted category and public use markets T700 licensed maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and State Commerce Secretary Sean Kouplen were on hand for the announcement.

Kouplen says there are lots of places around the state like Mint that are hiring, and they’re trying to spread the word.

“We honestly have a disconnect between an unemployment rate of 5.9 percent and employers everywhere calling our office saying we need people,” Kouplen said.

The head of Mint, David Norton, says they do have a few cases of people who commute from as far away as Tulsa to work at Mint.
