Stolen bulldozer left in roadway, moved by Tulsa Police

Someone called Tulsa Police overnight when they found a bulldozer blocking the road on 81st Street about halfway between Sheridan Road and Memorial Drive.

The call came in about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, wanting police to move the dozer, which still had its motor running, from its crosswise position on the roadway.

Tulsa Police Sergeant Darren Bristow was one of the officers who showed up to get the dozer out of the way.

But where did the bulldozer come from?

"It had been setting right there on the side of the road. It was a private contractor's bulldozer that was doing some work there in the neighborhood," Bristow said.

Now what?

"Officers spent some amount of time trying to figure out how to get the dozer to move under its own power."

One of Tulsa's finest knew how to drive the machine, just apparently like he had done before.

"Jump-started it and got it moved out of the road," Bristow said.

Problem solved.
