See pictures from Earth taken from 900 million miles away

The pictures were taken from near Saturn and Mercury and they make Earth look like a tiny dot.

A total eclipse of the sun allowed the NASA Cassini spacecraft to take the shots without being blinded or damaged by the light.

Space.com reports there were 20,000 people waving at the time of the picture but you'll have to squint really hard to see them since Cassini was 898 million miles away, give or take a million or two.

One scientist working on the project summed it up like this. "Cassini's picture reminds us how tiny our home planet is in the vastness of space, and also testifies to the ingenuity of the citizens of this tiny planet to send a robotic spacecraft so far away from home."
