Risk of severe weather expected Friday

TULSA — The National Weather Service says a potent storm system will move across the region on Friday.

The storm is expected to bring the chance for heavy rain and strong storms Friday afternoon and into the evening along and ahead of a frontal boundary.

The main hazards are expected to be damaging wind gusts along with a few tornadoes along the leading edge of a line of storms.

FOX23 and KRMG Chief Meteorologist James Aydelott says, “We could have a sprinkle or two today and a shower or thunderstorm late tonight, but we’ll have that severe weather threat back with us on Friday, highest chance midday into the early evening before all of it shifts to the east. Severe weather modes could include wind and hail even the threat of a tornado warning or two. That’s a little higher southeast of Tulsa.”

The KRMG StormCenter is staffed and ready to activate in case the storms do turn severe.
