Rep. Markwayne Mullin’s resolution to expunge the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump

Rep. Markwayne Mullin speaks with KRMG via Zoom, March 29, 2022

TULSA — U.S. Representative Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) has authored a resolution that he says would allow Congress to expunge the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump.

Mullin, who spoke with KRMG Tuesday from his office in Washington, D. C. tells KRMG that in his opinion, the impeachment was purely political, and that no “high crimes or misdemeanors” were ever proven.

It’s unclear whether such an expungement can occur, nor whether it would have any actual legal ramifications.

Rep. Mullin, however, says he and his staff have spent six months studying the situation, and he believes they’re on firm ground.

In our conversation, he also speaks at length about his first trip to Washington, D.C. as part of an Honor Flight with his grandfather, a veteran of WWII.

He also relates a recent conversation he had with former President Trump, talking about the U.S. Senate race which Mullin has announced he will enter with hopes of replacing the retiring Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.).
