Recount confirms Tulsa City Council election results

A recount conducted by the Tulsa County Election Board in the Tulsa City Council District 7 race confirms the need for a runoff.

Incumbent Tulsa City Councilor Lori Decter Wright asked for a recount following the August 23rd runoff. She said in a Facebook post that she did not suspect voter fraud, but that she had concerns about possible mechanical or technical errors with the machines that count the ballots.

Decter Wright came up just short of the votes she needed to win the election outright.

The manual recount of paper ballots was conducted on Wednesday, September 7th.

The Tulsa County Election Board said the recount confirmed the results of the District 7 race on August 23rd to be 100 percent accurate.

Decter Wright will face Ken Reddick in a runoff on November 8th.

KRMG reached out to Decter Wright for comment in August, but did not receive a response.
