Police looking for thief-turned-shooter in West Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police are searching for a thief-turned-shooter after a murder at a west Tulsa apartment complex.

Police say they were called out to the Sandy Park Apartments on Charles Page Blvd. near South 65th West Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

They say two people noticed someone stealing from cars in the parking lot, and ran outside to confront the thief.

The thief ran off and the two got into a car and tried to chase them, police say.

According to police, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the car, hitting the driver.

The driver crashed the car attempting to drive himself to the hospital and later died from his injuries. The other person in the car was dealing with minor injuries, police say.

Police are now actively searching for the suspect.

This is the 5th homicide of 2022 in Tulsa.
