Pastor, trauma counselor shares his story after a journey to help people in Ukraine

TULSA — In March, a trauma counselor and associate pastor of Hope Church in Broken Arrow landed in Budapest, where he boarded a vehicle to complete a journey into Ukraine.

“Our goal was to set up medical teams in different locations,” Leitch told KRMG Sunday. “We set up a medical clinic in a refugee place that had been housing many refugees for a while... just caring for them, whatever their medical needs were.”

The group was also tasked with scouting for future locations and networking with the people in the embattled country in order to facilitate future missions.

The journey was conducted under the auspices of In His Image International, which conducts medical training and education for family practice physicians around the world, with an emphasis on underdeveloped areas.

In the interview, he speaks about another trip he made to Ukraine about a year before, comparing and contrasting what he saw on the two journeys.

He also talks about how people can best help those trapped in the war zone.
