TULSA — President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week establishing the Task Force on Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives.
On Friday, U.S. Attorney Trent Shores announced he’s been appointed as Chair of the Native American Issues Subcommittee of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee on the task force.
The task force will work with tribes to address new and unsolved missing and murdered indigenous persons cases — particularly missing and murdered women and girls.
“Now is the time for action,” said U.S. Attorney Trent Shores for the Northern District of Oklahoma. “For far too long Native Americans and Alaska Natives, especially women, have experienced unacceptably high rates of violence.”
