An 18-year-old from Hollis, Oklahoma was recently attacked and killed in Alaska.
Authorities confirmed on Monday, Anthony Montoya was attacked at a remote mine site on a southeast Alaska island by a female bear and two cubs.
All three of the bears were killed before troopers arrived. Investigators didn’t immediately release who killed them.
Montoya worked for Idaho-based Timberline Drilling.
The island is known for the large number of bears in the area. Mine officials report their workers are trained on how to protect themselves.
