Oklahoma reports more than 10,000 deaths due to COVID-19

As of September 23rd, 2021, more than 10,000 people in Oklahoma have died due to COVID-19, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Thursday’s report included 42 new provisional deaths, which brought the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 10,025.

“We are sorry to report that as of today, we have lost over 10,000 Oklahomans to COVID-19.” Oklahoma Commissioner of Health Dr. Lance Frye said. “This count represents the lives of our friends, neighbors and loved ones, and any number of deaths will always be too many.”

OSDH urges everyone in Oklahoma to get the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves. They also urge people to follow the 3 W’s: Wash your hands, watch your distance and wear a mask.
