Officer hit during fatal shooting of an Ada man

ADA. Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Ada Tuesday morning.

Ada police officers were serving Thomas Cole Thompson and his wife Kristina Thompson with felony warrants at a home around 10:00 am.

Police say 58-year-old Cole Thompson was outside and opened fire on the officers.

Officers returned fire on Thompson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officer Matthew Mericle was hit.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Thompson's wife was taken to jail after she was taken to a hospital for observation.
