Non-profit needs urgent help to obtain Christmas gifts for foster children

With just days to go before Christmas, Fostering Connections hopes to raise enough money to brighten Christmas for another 600 children

TULSA — A non-profit agency which greatly expanded its territory in the last year finds itself up against a tough deadline, as volunteers work on making Christmas brighter for some two thousand foster children.

Fostering Connections Community Outreach Director Evan Taylor tells KRMG they still needs gifts for about six hundred kids.

They spend about $75 per child, so they’re at least $45,000 short of their goal with just days to go before the holiday.

Taylor told KRMG that one child’s story in particular has moved many people to donate.

“The mother, foster mom, came in and told us that this child had never received a Christmas present,” Taylor said Monday. “Which was bad enough, but then she told us that he was told it was because Santa didn’t like him - and that had gone on for a number of years.”

Those able to help can visit the Fostering Connections website, or text “FOSTERINGJOY” (no spaces, all caps) to 44321.
