New show at Tulsa Planetarium lets you virtually set foot on Mars

'Destination Mars' features immersive CGI imagery

Chances are you’ll never go to Mars, but the planetarium at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum has the next best thing.

‘Destination Mars’ is a new show on NASA’s plan to send astronauts to the Red Planet with cutting-edge special effects that show what it would be like to actually set foot on Mars.

“It is a really amazing program to see. I haven’t had anybody walk out of this show without a smile on their face yet,” said Planetarium Manager Bryan Kyle.

He says it has all the most up-to-date information on NASA’s plans including the work on the International Space Station, NASA’s Space Launch System rocket, the partnership with SpaceX, the planned Lunar Gateway Space Station, and more.

‘Destination Mars’ shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
