New BAFD program aims to make services more affordable

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Broken Arrow Fire Department is unveiling a new payment plan program.

Right now, people not living in the city limits but in the fire line have to pay out of pocket expenses when the department responds to their home, but a new program allow people to use a payment plan.

It costs $700 per hour per truck that responds, so people can get hit with thousands of dollars in bills on top of the fire they’ve had to deal with...

The new program would only cost residents $90 a month.

About 4,500 people live in the unincorporated areas of the department's fire line.

They will receive letters in the mail about the new service in a few weeks, and can enroll later this year.
