Local cops say they won’t pull you over just for being outside

TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — With non-essential businesses closed and citizens are asked to stay home, many want to know how police are enforcing these requests.

Local law enforcement want people to know they wont stop you if you aren't breaking the law.

Area cops say no, you do not have to have papers in order to go outside after the recent emergency declaration.  There is no law in Oklahoma that requires you to do so.

Sand Springs and Tulsa Police say they've been getting calls about what the enforcement of the "stay at home" order would look like.

They say they won't randomly pull people over just to check on them, but they will be monitoring places like parks and businesses where 10 or more people could gather.

Some companies have provided paperwork for employees identifying them as essential employees, but police say there is no need to carry that.

They won’t be asking people to present it or prove where they’re going.
