BA lawmaker's jail phone calls go public

TULSA — A state representative from Broken Arrow made several calls to high-profile friends, as well as the Tulsa County Sheriff and Broken Arrow police chief, as he was waiting to be transported from the Broken Arrow detention facility to the county jail.

The arrest occurred August 2nd, after a 911 call came in from a citizen who reportedly said a vehicle was swerving over the center line.

BAPD officers responded, found the vehicle, and made contact with Dean Davis, the representative for Oklahoma District 98.

According to the arrest report, Davis told officers several times they should call their chief - but in phone calls to fellow lawmakers T.J. Marti and Ross Ford, he told them he called Chief Brandon Berryhill as he was being pulled over.

The arrest report says he refused to take a breath test for alcohol after failing several field sobriety tests.

Davis tells Marti and Ford he wanted them to give him a blood test instead.

In the call to Marti, Davis can be heard saying “this is not going to help Broken Arrow at all, because they just made an enemy. And that's not good at all, you know that.”

Davis is due in court for arraignment on charges of DUI second offense, speeding, and obstructing an officer on September 23rd.
