Humane Society helping with local animal overcrowding at shelters

On Friday, KRMG reported about animal overcrowding in Tulsa animal shelters.

Now comes word the Humane Society are taking in animals from those shelters before they are euthanized.

An official with the organization reports Wings of Rescue and the GreaterGood.org flew 72 dogs to Washington state and Idaho last week.  This means the Humane Society shelters have some extra space.

“We are trying the best we can to get as many of them out as possible,” the official said.

They are hoping monthly flights will help with their overcrowding issues.

Tulsa Animal Welfare can use all the help they can get.

Officials report they are having to euthanize animals because of the overcrowding. In fact, they've apparently put down 50 to 55 animals in just one day.
