Homecoming scheduled for injured Tulsa police officer

The officer will come home in style

TULSA — Officer Aurash Zarkeshan will get a hero’s welcome when he comes home on Thursday.

Members of the public donated a jet to fly him from an undisclosed out-of-state rehabilitation facility back here to Tulsa.

Chairman of the Fraternal Order of Police Jerad Lindsey says it’s incredible that Officer Zarkeshan survived a gunshot to the head during a traffic stop in June.

“It’s amazing what he’s overcome,” said Lindsey. “It’s amazing how resilient he is as a person and how much of a fighter he is to fight through this.”

The homecoming isn’t open to the public because of COVID-19.

Tulsa Police Sergeant Craig Johnson was killed in the shooting.

David Ware is the suspect in the case. Michael Hall is the suspected getaway diver.
