Great Pumpkin Rescue seeks to cut down on food waste

TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — The M.e.t and Full Sun Composting are partnering to bring awareness to the issue of food waste by accepting holiday pumpkins to compost.

Four M.e.t. center locations, as well as at the Owasso Recycling Center, will be accepting holiday gourds, squash and pumpkins at any of the five locations free of charge during the month of November.

They ask that residents remove all decorations, such as candles, plastics, or stickers.

All pumpkins that are dropped off will be composted by Full Sun Composting.

Compost will be available to residents who participated in this event in the Spring of 2020 from Full Sun.
