Garth Brooks plans on Dive Bar Tours, despite canceling stadium shows

Oklahoma City, Okla. — Garth Brooks says he plans to continue performing at dive bars, despite canceling his stadium shows, saying it is easier to make sure fans are vaccinated at the smaller venues.

In his Facebook live episode of “Inside Studio G” he explained his reasoning for the Dive Bar Tour.

“The dive bars are vaccinated, that’s how you get to do it,” Brooks explained of his reasoning for resuming shows at smaller venues. “So, the great thing about this is, [the fans are] vaccinated or they have to show a 3-day negative in-advance test.”

We told you in February this year, his wife Trisha Yearwood tested positive for COVID-19, while Brooks tested negative. Brooks announced the cancelation of the 5 final tour dates in his Stadium Tour in mid-August, amid concern over the COVID-19 delta variant.

During his Facebook Live show, Brooks reiterated that stadium shows “are officially out” for the remainder of the year, but said he and his tour managers are scheduling dates in 2022.

“[It] killed me to have to shut it down again,” Brooks said of the decision to cancel his Stadium Tour, which had already been shut down once before in 2020. “But you wanna do what’s best for the people that are sweet enough to come to see you.”

As for the Dive Bar Tour, Brooks said he is planning more stops for November and December, as well as another date, but did not reveal details.

His first stop will be at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City. You can’t buy tickets though, they are only available to people who win them by calling into an OKC radio station.
