More than a dozen ambulance crews from lots of different agencies around the state joined a funeral procession today, to honor a longtime EMSA paramedic who died last month from Covid-19.
Debbie Rusher worked for EMSA for 22 years.
EMSA spokesman Adam Paluka says the word he heard about her from her co-workers time-and-time-again was “dependable.”
“I think that that’s why so many people are here today, because she always showed up to work, she never called in, she was always someone you could count on, and they’re doing the same for her today,” Paluka said.
Colleagues say Rusher had an especially long career in a field known for ‘burnout’ and high turnover.
She was buried in Okmulgee.
