Former Tulsa police officer Shannon Kepler was found not guilty Monday evening of first degree murder, but was found guilty of second degree murder and guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon, in connection with the fatal shooting of his daughter’s boyfriend, Jeremy Lake, in 2014.
After three mistrials, Kepler was eventually convicted of first-degree manslaughter in 2017, but because he’s a member of the Creek Nation, and because of the U.S. Supreme Court’s McGirt ruling, that conviction was overturned last month.
But he was then immediately indicted on the three federal charges.
