Explosion at Agri-Nutrients, Port of Catoosa

Catoosa, Okla. — An explosion and fire is under investigation at the Port of Catoosa.

The explosion was heard by an employee at another business in the area around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

Tulsa firefighters and a Hazardous Materials Unit arrived to find smoke and flames coming from inside the Agri-Nutrients building at 5201 Bird Creek Avenue where fertilizer chemicals were being stored.

The fire was brought under control.

Firefighters built a trench to keep water from spreading to other chemicals and causing a possible reaction.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
