District attorney will not charge BLM painters

The charges under consideration were a felony and a misdemeanor

TULSA — The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that they would not be filing charges against the people responsible for the yellow “Black Lives Matter” paint on two Tulsa streets.

The spray paint in the Greenwood District, and in front of City Hall, has been removed.

The City Hall incident is still under investigation by Tulsa police.

Officers are also still looking into the BLM graffiti at the Center of the Universe last week.

Kunzweiler says his office needs to focus on violent crime and is referring the case back to the Tulsa City Attorney’s Office.

“Not every occurrence necessitates the filing of state criminal charges,” said Kinzweiler. “There are many other remedies available to address grievances, including civil actions for the recovery of damages.”
