The first known Ebola patient in the United States has died.
Thomas Eric Duncan was pronounced dead about 8:00 a.m. Wednesday Central Time at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
The hospital reported over the weekend that he was being treated with an experimental drug, brincidofovir.
Tuesday, doctors said they had put him on kidney dialysis, a sign he was experiencing multi-organ failure.
His liver function continued to decline, and he reportedly died of liver failure despite the treatment.
Hunter had recently flown back to the US from his native Liberia.
The first time he went to a Dallas hospital complaining of symptoms of the disease, he was turned away.
