Crews prepare for large Route 66 sculpture

TULSA — Construction crews are getting ready to build the “Route 66 Rising” sculpture next week at the Avery Traffic Circle at Admiral Place and Mingo Road.

The spot honors Cyrus Stevens Avery, the Father of Route 66, who lived at the intersection.

The artwork will be about 70 feet wide and 30 feet high.

The budget for this project is $655,000.

Money comes from Vision 2025.

Vision 2025 included $15 million for projects on Route 66 in Tulsa.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin Nov. 26.

Installation will take about two weeks to complete.
