City asking for public input on BMX site

Just by itself, the new BMX World Headquarters that’s being built east of Downtown Tulsa is changing the landscape in a major way.

But Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum says just like we saw with the BOK Center and Drillers baseball park, we’re going to see a huge ripple effect of new businesses.

“We’re going from an abandoned industrial site that has been empty for 30 years to an Olympic training center and an event center where you’re going to have a hundred-thousand people a year there, and so all of a sudden, there’s tremendous incentive for private sector investment there,” Bynum said.

The City is working with 4 different development companies, and they’re holding a public meeting next week on Thursday, the 23rd, where citizens can hear from those companies and also give their feedback.

They’ll hold two more public meetings, one in October and one in December.

The city plans to pick a development company in December.

Here’s a link to the city’s website with more information.
