Bixby mourns passing of owners of Scott's Hamburgers

The people in Bixby know if you want a great burger, head to Scott's Hamburgers.

Generations of Bixby residents have enjoyed items like the Big Hoss with cheese, tator tots and tea.

However, right now the restaurant is dark.

Sadly, Kenny and Glenda Simmons, the longtime owners of Scott’s, passed away on Wednesday.

Jim Kirkpatrick owns a printing business down the street from Scott’s.

“They’ve been in town forever. It’s going to be a big loss. She (Glenda) played the organ in our church. She was a wonderful lady. I just loved her to death. To have her go that quickly out of our life…I really don’t have words to describe the impact that’ll have on my family.”

On the restaurant’s Facebook page, one woman wrote, “We don't even have the words to express how sorry we are to hear this sad news. Kenny and Glenda were both sweet, wonderful people. Our prayers go out to their family and friends. Scott's will never be the same.”

A sign on the front door of the restaurant indicates Scott’s will reopen next Tuesday.
