Attorney General Sessions resigns at president’s request

TULSA — In a move anticipated by many in the nation’s capitol, President Donald Trump asked his attorney general to resign Wednesday after election results guaranteed a solid Republican majority in the Senate.

That’s important, because the Senate would have to approve the president’s nominee to replace Jeff Sessions, whose resignation letter today made it clear that he was stepping down at the president’s request and not because he wanted to leave.

It begins with the words “At your request, I am submitting my resignation,” and then goes on to list what Sessions sees as a list of important accomplishments by the Department of Justice over the last two years.

You can read the entire letter on KRMG Washington Watchdog Jamie Dupree's blog.
