Expo Square sets deadline for proposals to operate Skyride again

TULSA, Okla. — Expo Square filed an official request for anyone to submit a proposal to operate the Skyride, one of Tulsa’s iconic fair rides that hasn’t been in operation since 2019, Tuesday.

In their request, Expo Square provided qualifications that prospers must meet in order to operate the ride. Qualified firms can submit a proposal to:

“Maintain and operate the Von Roll Skyride during the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Purchase, maintain and operate the Von Roll Skyride during the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, Oklahoma.”

Expo Square said in their proposal that both options would include a negotiated agreement with terms and conditions. This agreement would be negotiated at a later date.

FOX23 previously reported that Expo Square planned to tear down the Skyride years ago but didn’t make any announcements to the public at the time.

Currently, there is a push backed the Tulsa Preservation Commission to nominate the Skyride to the National Register of Historic Places.

The deadline to submit proposals to the Tulsa County Public Facilities Authority is Jan. 13, 2023.

This is a developing story.
