South Tulsa apartment fire leaves 12 people without home

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department says the cause of a fire at a south Tulsa apartment complex was accidental. The fire left 12 people without a home and injured one person late Sunday night. Investigators determined an accidental cooking fire was the cause.

Firefighters put out the fire that they say started around 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Wedgewood Apartments near 61st and Peoria. They said it looks like the fire started on the first floor of the complex and spread to the second floor. All 12 units in the complex are unlivable because of fire or smoke damage.

One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and is expected to be okay.

The Red Cross is helping the residents now without a home.
