City of Broken Arrow cuts the ribbon on new fire house

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The City of Broken Arrow is cutting the ribbon for a new fire station.

Broken Arrow officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Broken Arrow Fire Station #3 on Tuesday.

The more than 11,000 square foot station is located at 5420 S. 23rd St. and includes:

  • Six modern semi-private bunk rooms
  • Three large bays to accommodate modern equipment
  • Two Captain’s bunks
  • Offices
  • A common area
  • Physical fitness space
  • A public restroom for the nearby trails

This new Station #3 replaces the previous station, which was nearly 50 years old.

“We are extremely excited to be opening the new replacement Fire Station #3,” said Broken Arrow City Manager Michael Spurgeon. “In Broken Arrow, we place a very high priority on public safety services, and this includes ensuring we have fire stations strategically placed throughout the community so we can get to our residents or businesses as quickly as possible when there’s a call. Likewise, new station #3 will help us meet the demands of the growth happening in the southeast part of our community. "

The location is consistent with the City’s research which indicated the best locations for ideal response times for assisting citizens.

The quick access to the turnpike also gives the first responders the ability to reach areas around town much faster.

“We are extremely grateful to our citizens and city leaders for their support and willingness to provide our department with the trucks, stations, equipment, and staffing so we can fulfill our mission of ‘Serving Others,’” said Broken Arrow Fire Chief Jeremy Moore.

Reco Enterprises constructed the station at the cost of $3.8 million.

The project is funded by the voter-approved 2011 and 2014 General Obligation bonds.
