BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Students at the Broken Arrow Vanguard Academy created a project to honor Oklahoma veterans that will be on display at the Oklahoma Capitol Building.
The students partnered with Survivor Outreach Services of Oklahoma to make a 12-foot tree display at the capitol building.
The display features almost 400 names of fallen servicemen from Green Country who died between 1990 and 2022 on wooden stars all over the tree.
Liane Anthony, a student at the Vanguard Academy told FOX23 this was a months-long process.
“Throughout the school year, we engraved 388 stars, all with names, date of death, rank of brances,” Anthony explained. “And we set up at the capitol, and it’s there until December 16th.”
The plan is for the display project to be passed onto students each year.
