According to PSO, an electrical line accidentally came into contact with a guy wire, which is the cable anchoring the power pole into the ground, and caused the outage.

COWETA, Okla. — The City of Coweta said a power outage is impacting the majority of Coweta.

The City said traffic lights along SH-51 are without power, along with businesses and neighborhoods across the city.

For anyone driving in the area, the City encourages extra caution and to treat an intersection as a four-way stop if a traffic light isn’t working.

The City said they currently don’t have an estimated restoration time.

PSO is currently making its way to Coweta to assess the situation.

All residents are encouraged to report outages through the PSO mobile app or through their website here.
