ACWORTH, Georgia — Former Tulsa Oilers football player Jordan Jones was working security at a bar in Cobb County, Georgia Saturday when he was allegedly shot and killed by Daniel Di Vonne Parsons.
Several Georgia media outlets reported that Jones was attempting to break up an altercation between Parsons and a woman in the parking lot of the bar when Jones was shot. Reports said Parsons was assaulting the woman when Jones intervened.
Jones was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. He played for the University of West Alabama after high school and later competed in the Indoor Football League with the Tulsa Oilers and San Antonio Gunslingers.
Jones was set to play indoor football this season with the Michigan Arsenal. The Tulsa Oilers expressed their condolences on social media.
