BIXBY, Okla. — The Bixby Fire Department said a battery-powered scooter caused an explosion in a neighborhood on Thursday.
Firefighters responded to reports of an explosion near East 136th Street South and South Mingo Road.
Initial findings show a scooter was the source of the explosion.

Firefighters said one person was evaluated by medics on scene, but no serious injures have been reported.
Lithium-ion batteries, commonly found in scooters and other rechargeable devices, can pose a fire or explosion risk if damaged, improperly charged or exposed to extreme conditions.
The Bixby Fire Department reminds residents to practice safe charging by using only approved chargers, avoiding overcharging and never leaver charging devices unattended.
