Tulsa's Clarkson is the C-USA freshman of the week

By Rick Couri, KRMG Sports director

TULSA, Okla. - Jordan Clarkson averaged 15.0 points per game and made 12-of-13 free throws, leading the Tulsa basketball team to two wins last week, and was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Clarkson totaled 30 points and added six rebounds, three assists and four steals. In the regular season finale against Southern Miss on Saturday, Clarkson tallied 18 points, including 15 in the second half, and made all eight free throw attempts. He added three assists and three steals in the game. Wednesday at Rice, Clarkson scored 12 points with five rebounds, and made 4-of-5 free throws in the Hurricane win.

This is the fourth C-USA freshman honor for Clarkson this season.

The second-seeded Golden Hurricane (18-12, 11-5 C-USA) opens the C-USA Championship Thursday at 9 p.m. CT in the quarterfinal round of the tournament, against the winner of the seventh-seed SMU-10th-seed Rice first-round game.
